Georgia announces launch date for regional enterprise dev't program (Exclusive)

Georgia is launching Pilot Regions Integrated Development Program, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia told Trend.

According to the Ministry, the budget for this program totaled 20 million Georgian lari ($6.5 million). The call for the applications for this program will be announced in February 2022, and the program itself will continue until the budget is active.

The program will be carried out in four Georgian regions: Kakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Imereti and Guria, the Ministry said.

The main purpose of the program is to finance the creation of new enterprises, the expansion or re-equipment of existing enterprises to promote small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the source said.

The program involves the financing of both fixed and current assets and is implemented by Georgia’s Rural Development Agency.
