Visitors from Turkey spending more money in Georgia, NBG says

Georgia’s revenues from visitors from Turkey in January 2022 amounted to $12.8 million, which is an increase of 287.8 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($3.3 million), Trend reports via the national bank of Georgia (NBG).

However, the same figure decreased by 55.7 percent, compared to January 2020, when revenues from visitors from Turkey amounted to $28.9 million.

The revenues from Turkish visitors to Georgia in January 2022 also decreased by 9.2 percent, compared to December 2021 ($14.1 million).

Thus, Turkey ranks fourth among the main countries of origin for money spending in Georgia in January 2022. Russia ranked first ($18.7 million), followed by Ukraine ($14.2 million), and the EU countries ($13.6 million).

Meanwhile, The number of visitors from Turkey traveling to Georgia in January 2022 totaled 31,775 people, which is an increase of 119.1 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (14,500 visitors).

However, the same figure decreased by 57.6 percent, compared to 75,012 visitors in January 2020.

Georgia’s total income from foreign visitors in January 2022 amounted to $144 million, which is almost 14 times more, compared to the same month of 2021 ($10.4 million).

The same figure decreased by 25.5 percent, compared to the same period of 2020 ($193.4 million).
