Georgia sees increase in gas imports from Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. Georgia’s imports of petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons from Azerbaijan from January through March 2022 amounted to $149.1 million, which is an increase of 93.8 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($76.9 million), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of the imported petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons from Azerbaijan also increased by 53.8 percent, compared to 492.7 million cubic meters over the reporting period of 2022, to 758 million cubic meters.

Thus, Azerbaijan ranked first among the main petroleum gases exporters to Georgia from January through March 2022, followed by Russia ($35 million).

Georgia’s total imports of petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons in the reporting period of 2022 totaled $184.2 million, which is an increase of 41.8 percent, compared to $129.9 million over the first quarter of 2021.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports from Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2022 amounted to $230 million, which is an increase of 57.6 percent, compared to $145.9 million over the same period of 2021.
