BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. The loan portfolio of Georgia’s banking sector increased in March 2022, Trend reports via Galt&Taggart investment bank.
The loan portfolio of Georgia’s banking sector in March 2022 increased by 18 percent year-on-year (excluding the foreign exchange effect), after increasing by 17.8 percent year-on-year in February 2022.
According to the statistics, the loan portfolio increased by 11 percent year on year to 43.3 billion Georgian lari ($14 billion).
The corporate loan growth by sector in Georgia was at 16.2 percent (16.1-percent growth in February 2022), while the retail loan growth stood at 19.8 percent (19.5-percent growth in the previous month) in the reporting period.
Meanwhile, the mortgage loan portfolio in March 2022 increased by 13.6 percent year-on-year, after increasing by 12 percent in February 2022.
According to Galt&Taggart, the bank deposits increased by 9.2 percent to 37.1 billion Georgian lari ($12 billion) in March 2022.
The deposits' growth in Georgian lari in March 2022 increased to 13.9 percent year-on-year (11.0 -percent growth in the previous month), while in foreign currency slowed to 6.5 percent year-on-year (7.4-percent down in February 2022).
