An Egyptian electoral commission has extended the deadline for applications from potential contenders for the country's parliamentary elections slated for November, state television reported Sunday.
The four-day extension to Saturday is meant to "boost the country's democratic transformation and allow more time for running in the elections," the television quoted the commission as saying.
Registration for the three-round elections, the first since former Egyptian president Hosny Mubarak was unseated in February, was originally set to end on Tuesday, DPA reported.
