US soldiers die in bomb attacks

( Breakingnews Ireland) Three American soldiers were killed and five were wounded in two separate roadside bomb attacks today, the US military says.

Two soldiers were killed and two others wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated during operations in the south-eastern section of the Iraqi capital.

In a separate attack, one soldier was killed and three were wounded when an improvised explosive device was detonated near their vehicle in the Salahuddin province, north of Baghdad, the military said.

Earlier, the military said that one soldier was killed by small arms fire during operations yesterday in a southern section of the Iraqi capital. The soldiers in this unit continue to conduct aggressive attack operations against al- Qaida cells who use the section of the city as a support zone, the brief statement from the military added.

The names of the deceased and wounded soldiers were not released pending notification of relatives.

The latest deaths raised to 3,813 members of the US military who have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
