(Fars News Agency) - The Qatari football Association announced that it is hoping to arrange a friendly match with Iran next month.

Qatar are in the middle of the first round of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup but see a date with Iran as a valuable test.

"We have suggested November 17 as a date, and Tehran as the venue. We are looking forward to a swift reply from the Iranian football federation," stated a Qatari FA spokesman.

Qatar manager Jorge Fossati has retained all his international players from their clubs.

The Uruguayan tactician is hoping for a more convincing home tie against Sri Lanka when both sides meet in the second leg in Doha on Sunday. Qatar won the first match 1-0.

"The match was suggested by Mr. Fossati who is looking forward to build up for the upcoming stages of the World Cup qualifiers, said the FA official, who added, " Iran is the first name on the list and we are willing to negotiate extra games if possible."
