(dpa) - Support for Poland's governing Citizens' Platform party (PO), in power since November, has reached a record level, according to a poll published in the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza Wednesday.

Sixty per cent of those polled said they supported the liberal- conservative party of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Within the last two weeks, support for PO had risen by eight percentage points.

No other party has garnered such support since the topple of communism in Poland in 1989.

In the parliamentary elections on October 21, 2007, PO gained 41.5 per cent of the vote.

Pollsters PBS questioned 1,128 representative citizens between March 7 and 9.

The largest opposition party, the Law and Justice (PiS) party only received 23-per-cent support, according to the poll.

The conservatives lead by Jaroslaw Kaczynski have not even been helped by the high levels of criticism which marked the government's first 100 days in office, the newspaper wrote.

The PO's coalition partner, the Polish Farmers' Party (PSL), also performed poorly in the poll, losing three percentage points, which would mean that they would now be excluded from government as their support has fallen below the 5-per-cent hurdle to enter parliament.

The centre-left LiD alliance, the fourth grouping in parliament, had 8-per-cent support.
