The 21-year-old gave the girl sex lessons from a biology book and taught her how to resist the advances of other men before indecently assaulting her on six occasions between August 2005 and December 2007.
At first the girl was reluctant to be touched by her half-brother but did so out of fear that he would not play with her or might even hit her, said the report in the South China Morning Post.
But eventually she began initiating sex acts and later told police she loved her brother.
The relationship was discovered when the girl told her mother about the incidents.
In an interview with police, the brother said he wanted his half-sister to be his girlfriend and could not bear to let another man touch her.
He appeared in court Wednesday admitting indecent assault but sentencing was adjourned until April 14 to allow for the preparation of various reports including a psychological report on the girl.
The court was told the student may have turned his attention towards his sister because of his narrow social life and introverted personality.
