Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa said Tuesday that the Arab League will take part in Thursday's UN-Iraq summit to be held in Sweden.

Mussa said the Arab League's participation in the International Compact for Iraq (ICI) reflects its interest in the developments in Iraq.

"The Arab League has never stopped supporting Iraq. This role

will be intensified in the coming period," he said.

A year ago the ICI was launched at a summit in Egypt, and the meeting on Thursday near Stockholm is a follow-up to it.

Mussa refused to comment a long-term strategy between the US and Iraqi governments expected to be signed at the beginning of June, saying only that, "we did not study this strategy yet."

The Arab League chief said there were talks about an upcoming Arab foreign ministers meeting to assess and review the peace process in the region. A date has not been set, he added, according to dpa.
