Police say a homemade bomb near the gates of a Philippine air force base in a southern city has killed a woman and wounded 10 other people, reported AP.
The bomb also damaged a lawmaker's office in a nearby building.
Police Chief Superintendent Jaime Caringal says the bomb went off Thursday outside the Edwin Andrews Air Base in Zamboanga city.
He says it apparently was concealed in one of several bags of civilian commuters waiting for the flight of a C130 cargo plane.
Caringal says nobody has claimed responsibility for the powerful blast, which damaged a number of parked cars and a lawmaker's office in a two-story building.
The building houses a military lending and loan association and an office of Rep. Maria Isabelle Climaco. Climaco said two of her staff were among those wounded.
Zamboanga has been targeted by al Qaeda-linked militants in the past, but Caringal said it was difficult to immediately say who was responsible.
