A strong earthquake struck southwest Pakistan on Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, police said.

The U.S. Geological Survey said a 6.2 magnitude quake hit 70 km (45 miles) northeast of the city of Quetta before dawn, Reuters reports.

"We don't have any reports of damage. Things are OK so far," said city police officer Salahuddin.
