Four people, including a local official, were killed in an attack in Russia's southern republic of Dagestan, Interfax news agency reported on Sunday.
Unidentified assailant opened fire at the cafe where Kazimbek Akhmedov, head of the administration of Dagestan's Untsukul district, was hosting a family party on Sunday evening, a local police source was quoted as saying, Xinhua reported.
Akhmedov, two of his bodyguards and one more guest of the cafe were killed, Interfax said.
