A Malaysian farmer was gored by his neighbour's cow while he tried to free the animal's leg from a barbed-wire fence, news reports said Thursday.
Salleh Saamah, 89, suffered a broken rib and injuries to his head after the enraged cow, who had gotten itself entangled in the fence, attacked him Tuesday, the New Straits Times daily said.
"I took pity on the animal, which had delivered a calf three days ago, and tried to free her leg from the fence," Salleh was quoted as saying. "She suddenly went wild and gored me repeatedly on the chest and head until I fell to the ground. The cow then ran away."
His wife immediately sent him to a nearby hospital where he was being treated for his injuries, dpa reported.
