A 42-year-old Thai woman returning from Mexico is suspected to have infected with swine influenza and being quarantined at the Chulalongkorn Hospital as the first suspected swine flu case in Thailand, local media quoted sources as saying on Tuesday.

According to The Nation's website, the undisclosed sources said the woman returned from Mexico early this month and has been hospitalized Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

The outbreak of the swine flu has killed almost 150 persons in Mexico, and more people have been infected in the United States, Canada and Europe. The World Health Organization (WHO) raised its pandemic alert level for the new flu strain to Phase 4, indicating a significantly increased risk of a global outbreak of a serious disease.
