Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari said Tuesday the entire nation is supporting the ongoing operation against the militants and want to flush out menace of terrorism from the areas to ensure peace.
Zardari made the remarks while talking to Canadian National Defense Minister Peter Mackay here.
He said that the fight against militants now had political ownership and the nation was united to defeat the militants, according to a statement from the President Office.
Zardari reiterated Pakistan's commitment to fight militancy in the region and said that the government would establish and maintain the writ of the state to ensure the supremacy of the rule of law, Xinhua reported.
He pointed out the need for international assistance in rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) who have been displaced from their homes due to fighting between the security forces and militants.
All efforts and possible steps are being taken for their relief and rehabilitation with the active support of general public and the donors, Zardari said.
According to the statement, Peter Mackay expressed complete solidarity and support to Pakistan and said "we desire to do even more in this fight against militancy."
Canada will extend all possible help in providing immediate relief to the IDPs by building schools, water supply schemes and basic health units, Peter Mackay said.
