A/H1N1 influenza virus has spread to 18 provinces in Indonesia and has infected more than 560 people, the private news portal detikcom quoted a minister as saying on Tuesday, reported Xinhua.
"The positive case of A/H1N1 as of Aug. 2, 2009 reached 561, consisted of 308 males, 253 females and another one died,"said Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari.
The World Health Organization has reported that the virus has killed over 800 people out of 134,503 infected people in the world.
As Indonesia had been hit by the avian influenza virus, experts fears that the A/H1N1 influenza virus could conduct a multiple combine with avian influenza A/H5N1 virus in the country that may create a new type of virus with the speed of spread similar to the A/H1N1 influenza virus.
