Afghan Independent Election Commission (IEC) has extended the voting process for one hour, a senior official with the body Daud Ali Najafi said.
In talks with media, he said that voting would continue until 05:00 p.m. local time (GMT1230).
As per schedule the voting, begun at 07:00 a.m. in all 34 provinces of the country.
Najafi said that since voters are still in queue, the election commission has decided to extend the voting process.
Some 17 million Afghans are going to polling stations across the country to elect the country's president and the members of provincial councils amid Taliban threat to disrupt the voting process.
