A German who was among five people killed in a Taliban attack in Afghanistan was a civilian security guard, the German Foreign Ministry said Friday in Berlin, DPA reported.
The 32-year-old man hailed from Germany's northernmost state, Schleswig-Holstein.
Germany strongly condemned the Taliban attack.
Sources said the man, who was protecting a site run by the US relief group Development Alternatives (DAI), had previously been a German Army soldier.
