The Somali government would welcome "targeted airstrikes" in Somalia against insurgents, the country's prime minister, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, said in London Thursday, dpa reported.
Ali did not elaborate further. He made his remarks in response to a question at a news conference at the end of an international conference on the future of Somalia.
The Guardian newspaper reported earlier this week that Britain and other European Union nations had "considered" airstrikes against the Islamist organization al-Shabaab.
