No justification for Libyan attack, Clinton says

US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday there was no justification for the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi that killed four Americans, but stressed that US efforts in the north African nation would not be another casualty of the incident, reported dpa.

"The friendship between our countries born out of shared struggle will not be another casualty of this attack. A free and stable Libya is still in America's interest and security and we will not turn our back on that," Clinton told reporters at the State Department in Washington, stressing the attack was perpetrated by a "small and savage group, not the people or government of Libya."

She pointed to reports the violence was sparked by an anti-Islamic video circulated on the internet, and condemned violence in the name of religion.
