Foreign Ministry: Russia not satisfied with current state of relations with U.S.

Russia is not satisfied with the current state of relations with the U.S., but is ready to take constructive steps to improve the situation, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.

"We are not satisfied with the current state of bilateral relations. There is no reason to hide this," he said.

Ryabkov noted that major problems were encountered in the dialogue between Moscow and Washington due to the fault of the American side, so first and foremost improvement of the dialogue depends on the Americans themselves.

"The sooner they formulate their preferences and priorities, whether in the form of a presidential address, or some other, the more it will benefit the negotiations. We are ready to take constructive steps for our part, "the Deputy Foreign Minister said.

Ryabkov added that Moscow expects the visit of the Assistant to U.S. President for National Security Issues Thomas Donilon, who will convey a letter from the American president which will include proposals of President Obama regarding improving relations with Russia.
