Two more persons are now facing charges in Russia in the murder of the famous politician, Boris Nemtsov.

TASS news agency reported March 16 that an investigation into the Nemtsov murder case brought charges against Khamzat Bakhayev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov.

"The charges were brought on Friday night," said Bakhayev's lawyer, Sophia Rubasskaya, who also noted that she couldn't disclose the details, as she earlier made a written undertaking during the investigation.

The second defendant, Eskerkhanov, has been charged with aiding the crime and he didn't plead guilty, according to his lawyer, Roza Magomedova.

Earlier, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov said he has an alibi. Eskerhanov's lawyer said that currently the investigation is checking his alibi.

"Alibi is being checked," said Magomedova, adding that so far, she has nothing else to say, as she has an agreement with Eskerkhanov's relatives in his defense.

Previously, charges were brought against Zaur Dadayev and Anzor Gubashev.

Moscow's Basmanny District Court sanctioned on March 8 the arrest of five defendants in the Nemtsov murder case.

The court decided that Anzor Gubashev and Shadid Gubashev, Zaur Dadayev, Khamzat Bakhayev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov would remain in custody until April 28.

All they have already appealed against their arrest.

They are being charged with offences under the articles about murder committed by a group of persons by prior agreement, and illegal possession of weapons.

The penalty for this charge stipulates imprisonment for a period of eight to 20 years, or life imprisonment.
