Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed on phone the prospects of inter-Syrian negotiations, IRNA reported.
The Lavrov-Kerry talks, the second in consecutive days, focused on political settlement of the crisis in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday.
They called for diplomatic solution of the crisis by representatives from the Syrian government and patriotic political opposition groups under the support of the global community.
They suggested that progressive countries in the region discuss and negotiate the prospects of talks.
On Saturday, the Russian and US top diplomats also conferred the Friday Vienna talks on Syria attended by US, Russia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
