(Itar-Tass) - The US-proposed amendments to the draft of an official statement on situation in Georgia to be made by the U.N. Security Council chairman are unacceptable for Russia and, therefore, cannot be adopted, Russian diplomats said on Friday.
The Russian delegation submitted the draft to the U.N. Security Council on Thursday. The Security Council members have failed to reach a consensus on it mainly because of opposition from the United States, retorts Trend.
The American delegation announced after consultations late on Friday that it had not received instructions from Washington to adopt the text of this statement.
It is still unclear when will the Security Council meet to discuss the statement next time. "We will follow the situation," the Russian diplomatic mission at the United Nations said.
