Russian State Duma ratifies agreement between Azerbaijan and Russia on state borders

The Russian State Duma has ratified the agreement between Azerbaijan and Russia on the state borders, according to the official website of the State Duma.

This issue was discussed at today's plenary session. In the discussions, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin delivered a report. Closing remarks were made by the chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Alexei Ostrovsky.

The agreement was signed in Baku on Sept. 3, 2010.

Russia is the first country with which Azerbaijan has signed an agreement on the state border. Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry once again confirmed that at present Russia and Azerbaijan do not have territorial claims.

The border land between Russia and Azerbaijan is 284 km. The total length of the Russian state border is about 60,000 kilometers.
