Baku Higher Oil School celebrates its 4th anniversary

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov.30
Trend:

Four years passed since the establishment of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS).

BHOS was established within the structure of SOCAR, according to the Decree as of Nov.29, 2011, issued by Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The objective for creating this higher school was to ensure training of high-quality broad minded specialists with high English language proficiency level and advanced technical skills.

The distribution of students who scored between 690-700 university entrance points and were awarded the Presidential Scholarship constituted a total of 11 students in academic year 2012/2013, 15 students in academic year 2013/2014, and 17 students per academic years 2014/2015 and 2015/2016.

The current academic year Presidential Scholarship holders admitted to BHOS (17 students) represent the cohort of the total 25 nominees per Specialty Group # 1, and were admitted to the Petroleum Engineering (nine students), Process Automation Engineering (three students) and Chemical Engineering (five students) programs. BHOS manages to maintain its top place in the national ranking list developed by the State Students Admission Commission (SSAC).

In academic year 2015/2016, the minimum entrance score to BHOS constituted a total of 659 points, while the general average score was 676 points, which is considered to be the highest national result. This academic year, three out of the total seven students gathering the maximum 700 entrance points selected BHOS.

BHOS is going to open its new campus, the biggest one in the Caucasus region, by the end of the year.

BHOS is the only higher school in Azerbaijan awarded ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), and OHSAS18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) standards.

BHOS achievements during the four year period that turned the higher school into the leading and the most respectable one in Azerbaijan are the following: free of charge education, contemporary programs and advanced technologies applied to educate and train highly-qualified English speaking specialists, effective cooperation with well-recognized international higher education institutions and transnational companies, internship programs at transnational companies having presence in Azerbaijan to ensure the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, professional faculty and staff, diverse opportunities facilitating enrichment of not only the students knowledge, but also their social life, advanced laboratories, as well as constant attention and care to students on the part of SOCAR and BHOS management.

These aspects also served as the most important factors to ensure trust and reliability demonstrated by prospective students and their parents to BHOS
