Azerbaijan is considering joining to the Protocol on the Convention on Xenophobia and Racism Through Computer Systems, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's Staff and Legal Department Chief Bakhtiyar Mammadov said on Wednesday.
The protocol adds dissemination of information inciting to violence, hatred or discrimination against an individual or group to the list of crimes in this sphere.
Mammadov said a relevant translation of the protocol into the Azerbaijani language has been prepared based on the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's appeal.
Work on the preparation for joining to the Convention began in 2005, while a document on Azerbaijan's joining to the Council of Europe Convention on Cybercrime was signed in 2008, Mammadov said.
With regard to joining to the protocol, in this case, according to the specialist, this process does not require more time, as the volume of the document is much smaller.
