Trend:

Azerbaijan has lost nearly all of its internet connection at approximately 16:15 (UTC/GMT +4 hours) due to technical issues.

The problems occurred as a result of the fire at the lines connected to the DATA-center of Delta Telecom, Mushviq Amirov, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and IT, told Trend.

"The fire has been extinguished by the representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations," he said.

The information was affirmed to Trend by Delta Telecom Nov. 16.

"The problem is that the cables connected with DATA center switched off," the company said. "At present, we are resolving the problem.

Among mobile operators only Azercell has no Internet because this mobile operator has been connected to Delta Telecom, while two other operators Azerfon (NAR) and Bakcell have been connected to AzerTelecom.

The problem also affected the country's e-payment systems.

"Internet problem must not affect ATMs as they work through a separate line," Jalal Orujev, the head of MilliKart processing center, told Trend Nov. 16. "But the problem can affect POS terminals."

The Heydar Aliyev International Airport has no problems with Internet as it has its own line, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) told Trend.

E-auction had no Internet problems as it finished before Internet was switched off, the Baku Stock Exchange told Trend.

"All online-auctions usually finish at 17:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours) but today they finished at 16:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours) due to few bids," the Baku Stock Exchange said.

E-mortgage portal was not affected as it was connected to AzerTelecom provider, the Azerbaijani Mortgage Fund told Trend.
