Runway presentation was held on Tuesday at the King David the Builder International Kutaisi airport. During the presentation, Boeing 747 landed at the runway.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili spoke at the presentation of the runaway. He said that the Kutaisi airport will be the largest and the cheapest.
"Most of the population should fly in Georgia, and not 3-5 percent, so I encourage everyone to reduce fares for flights," he said.
The airport terminal will be ready by the end of September, and on September 27 it will be presented and the first flight will take place.
Length of the new runway is 2.6 km.
Georgian flag and the words 'Kutaisi - the parliamentary capital of Georgia' are depicted on the plane landed.
Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia said Kutaisi airport will be officially opened on September 27, when the airline Biz Air will make its first flight Kiev - Kutaisi.
"The opening of Kutaisi airport will enable to operate cheap flights with low ticket prices and increase the throughput of the country and employ people," the minister told reporters.
From September 27 the airport will commence direct flights to Kiev, and from the spring of 2012 it is planned to launch regular flights to Belgium and Germany, Kobalia said.
On the same day, September 27, Kutaisi airport must be assigned A category.
