Iran exported 10,744 sedans during the last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20, 2013), with some 4,231 of that amount only exported in the latest Iranian month.

It should be noted that the Western countries suspended certain sanctions against Iran as the Geneva nuclear deal came into force on Jan. 20. Iran was permitted to import materials for its auto manufacturing sector as a result of the nuclear deal implementation, which seems has led to sharp increase in country's auto exports in recent months.

The average price of exported car was $6,554 during the period, which indicates an 11.31 percent increase compared to the preceding year.

Iran has exported 6,509, 2,130 and 1,401 sedan cars to Iraq, Azerbaijan and Egypt respectively during last Iranian year. The country has imported 78,673 sedan cars, worth $ 3.017 billion during the last Iranian calendar year, which indicates an increase of 74.45 and 174.46 percent respectively in terms of volume and value compared to the preceding year.

Some 17,603 sedan cars, worth $1.744 billion were imported to Iran only in the twelfth month of the last year.

The average price of imported cars was $38,348 which indicates a 57.33 percent increase in price compared to the preceding year. Iran has imported 60,434 cars from the UAE, 12,756 cars from China and 2,477 cars from Kuwait during the period.

Iran produced 655,551cars in the first eleven months of the current Iranian calendar year.

Some 68,107 sedan cars, 10,274 pickup trucks, 38 buses, and 11 minibuses were produced in the eleventh month (January 21-February 19).

Iran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, which made it Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer. Iran's automobile output faced a 40 percent decrease in 2012 due to sanctions. The country was Asia's 5th largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.

Increasing prices on raw materials and foreign currencies are car manufacturers' main problems in Iran.
