The Austrian University of Leoben and the French IFP engineering school have signed separate MoUs with Iran's University of Oil Industry to work on an oil field in central Iran.

A contract will soon be signed with the Austrian university about conducting studies on the Gachsaran oil field, Abdolnabi Hashemi, head of Iran's University of Oil Industry said, SHANA news agency reported December 6.

A similar project is also going to be carried out with IFP, he added.

The official said that seeking foreign expertise comes before a joint meeting with foreign partners and the National Iranian South Oil Company to arrange programs for technological studies of the oil field.

He further stated that 19 plans are being proposed to the National Iranian South Oil Company, 10 of which have been passed and 3 other are under consideration.

Back in September, Iran's University of Oil Industry also sought the help of the Austrian Montana University to focus on improving oil output from the Gachsaran oil field in the Iranian Markazi Province.
