The Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships being held in Baku can't be compared to anything, representative of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, head of the Regional Gymnastics Federation of Russia's Rostov region Elena Ivanova said on June 15.

"We have attended many World Championships, Olympic Games," she said. "But this European Championship can not be compared to anything."

Ivanova arrived in Baku with a support group of the federation, which includes coaches, athletes and referees.

"I have arrived in Baku for the first time," she said. "I attended different Olympics Games. Of course, I am shocked because I have not expected that Baku is so beautiful and clean."

She also stressed the excellent organization of the championships.

"Everything is being held at the highest level," Ivanova added. "There is a very nice, cozy and comfortable hall. I like everything."

She went on to add that Azerbaijan's Gymnastics Federation is working very well, adding that it has some very competent managers. Ivanova mentioned Azerbaijani gymnasts' talent, in particular, those performing in the individual events.

"Their ratings greatly increased due to these competitions," she added. "The gymnasts worked perfectly."

The 30th Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships is being held in the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.

Some 258 gymnasts from 33 countries have been competing for nine sets of awards in the tournament that is being held in Baku for the third time. The championship is scheduled to wrap up on June 15.
