By Demir Azizov - Trend:

A heavy downpour, which hit the Uzbek capital of Tashkent on Friday, May 30, caused floods in the streets in some areas of the city.

The streets, squares, courtyards, parking lots, driveways and playgrounds located in the lowlands were flooded in half an hour.

The water flow rapidly filled subway stations and underground passages. The underground passage near the Chorsu square was completely flooded.

It was difficult or even impossible for vehicles to move on many streets due to the water flow.

Uzbek Centre of Hydrometeorological Service (Uzhydromet) has not yet given information on the amount of precipitation.

However, many old-timers interviewed by Trend, said they do not remember to see such rain intensity in their lives.

It is not raining in Tashkent now, and the urban services are clearing the roads.

The weather forecasters said that today and in the next two days the weather in Tashkent will be partly cloudy and predicted scattered showers and thunderstorm.
