At least 10 people were killed in an attack on an Iranian opposition camp in Iraq early Saturday, a spokesman for the People's Mujahedin of Iran (MeK) said in Berlin, dpa reported.

Another 100 people were injured in the rocket and mortar attack on Camp Liberty, which houses around 3,100 MeK dissidents given sanctuary by former dictator Saddam Hussein. It was not clear who was responsible for the attack.

The current Iraqi government says the group is living in Iraq illegally and last year forced them to move to the camp, a former US base outside Baghdad just a half a kilometre square, from their previous home Camp Ashraf.
