Those charged with an attempt to Israeli embassy, Gabala radar station in Azerbaijan to have closed trial

Azerbaijani Serious Crimes Court held preparation meeting for the trial of those charged with an attempt to blast Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan and Gabala Radar Station.   

The appeals by the lawyers of the defendants were rejected. The lawyers demanded to hold open trial and to provide reference about arrest of the accused.  

The appeal of the public prosecutor to hold closed trial was satisfied.

The court will examine the case on June 24.

Two of those charged with treason, preparation for act of terrorism and espionage - Karaki Ali Mohammad and Najmaddin Ali Huseyn are from Lebanon and remaining four Javid Mammadov, Vidadi Rasulov, Mushviq Amanov and Afgan Balashov are from Azerbaijan.

They were detained in May 2008. Illegal Iranian passports were seized from the Lebanese citizens.

Karaki Ali Mohammad and Najmaddin Ali Huseyn were trained and sent to Azerbaijan by Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda leaders. They were tasked with blasting Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan and Gabala Radar Station.    

The charged Azerbaijani citizens were to help them.
