AzScienceNet, the scientific computer network of the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan will become the full participant of the European Grid Infrastructure (EGI), ITI Chief Engineer Rashid Alakbarov told Trend on Wednesday.
He noted that the advantages of GRID-segment will become available through the ITI data processing center, which will operate as the common center of control and distribution of software resources of Institutes of the Academy of Sciences.
The distributed network under the EGI project consists of 200,000 computers located in 33 countries and was launched in September 2010. Capacities of computers located in 300 data-centers across the globe are used under the project.
GRID-segment is a geographically distributed infrastructure uniting a variety of resources of personal computers and databases with a user enabled to get access to it from any point worldwide.
