The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Vietnam will be increased, the chairman of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev said May 12 at the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Finance of Vietnam, curator in the fields of customs and tax administration Do Hoang Anh Tuan.

"Despite the fact that Vietnam is not only a political but also an economic partner of Azerbaijan, the annual trade turnover between the two countries amounts to several million dollars," he said. "The highest volume of trade turnover was recorded in 2013, thanks to exports of oil and oil products worth over $200 million. It is expected that the signing of the agreement [on the simplification of trade] and the expansion of business ties will help to increase trade turnover between the countries."

The visit of Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang to Azerbaijan, within the framework of which the issues of cooperation in the customs area will be given particular attention, will become the impetus for this, the head of the State Customs Committee said.

The delegation headed by president of Vietnam will stay in Baku May 12-15.

It is expected to sign a number of documents in the customs area within the framework of the visit. Also, the Azerbaijani-Vietnamese business forum will take place on May 14.

The trade turnover between the two countries on the results of 2014 amounted to $79.76 million, which is almost 4 times less than in 2013, according to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee. That's while in 2014, the export of Azerbaijani goods to Vietnam accounted for $75.37 million.
