By Zhale Qasimova – Trend:

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported 278,910 tons of oil through the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline from January through September 2020, Trend reports with reference to the operational report of the Federal State Budget Organization "Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel Energy Complex" of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.

"Some 278,910 tons of oil were transited from Azerbaijan to the port of Novorossiysk from January through September 2020 within the Transneft company’s system,” the report said. “At the same time, 79,760 tons of oil were pumped along this route in September."

According to the Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel Energy Complex, 574,170 tons of Azerbaijani oil were transited through the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline from January through September 2019.

Thus, the export of Azerbaijani oil through the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline decreased by 51.4 percent from January through September 2020.

A decrease in oil export in 2020 by SOCAR via the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline is explained by the fact that the pipeline did not work from January through July. SOCAR has resumed export via the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline only since July 17.

Earlier it was reported that SOCAR plans to export 255,000 tons of oil in the fourth quarter of 2020.

SOCAR exported 824,400 tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline in 2019.

Azerbaijan has been transporting its oil through the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline since 1997.
