Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 August / Trend corr. S.Kazimli / The Azerbaijani citizen, who were in international search according to Article 228.4 (illegal sale of drugs) of the Russian Criminal Code, was arrested in the Azerbaijani capital.
According to Police station 17 of the Narimanov District Police Department (DPD), employees of the police section detained 31 year-old Nizami Zeynalov, a resident of Arabmehdibayli village of Agsu Region, during the operative investigation measures held on 14 August. A total of 0.248g of heroin was withdrawn from Zeynalov as a result of examination.
On 15 August, during investigation it was specified that the Kalinski Region Police Department of St.-Petersburg city of Russia announced international search of Zeynalov on 24 February 2003. Criminal case was filed on Zeynalov because of the illegal drugs conveyance in Azerbaijan, the police station said.
He will not be extradited to Russia for this purpose. The police station said that the Russian law-enforcement agencies would be informed about Zeynalov's arrest.
