Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 6 /corr. Trend N.Kirtskhalia / At its extraordinary meeting, the Parliament of Georgia approved the composition of the new government and Prime Minister Nika Gilauri. Some 108 MPs voted for approval of the new Cabinet of Ministers, eight voted against and one MP Jondi Bagaturia did not attend the voting.
The new government includes new Prime Minister, Nika Gilauri, and three new ministers - Minister of Finance, Kakha Baindurashvili, Minister on Regional Issues and Communication, David Tkeshelashvili, Minister on Implementation of Punishments, Probation and Legal Aid, Dmitry Shashkin.
State Minister on European Integration Giorgi Baramidze, the Minister for
Reintegration, Temur Yakobashvili, Minister of Diaspora, Yulon Gagoshidze,
preserved their posits.
The posts in the Cabinet of Ministers were
held by the Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili, Defense Minister Vasil
Sikharulidze, Minister of Economy Lasha Zhvaniya, Foreign Minister Grigol
Vashadze, Minister of Education, Nika Gvaramiya, Minister of Energy Aleko
Khetaguri, Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli, Minister of Labor, Health
and Social Protection Alexander Kvitashvili, Minister on Refugees Koba
Subeliani, Minister of Justice Zurab Adeishvili, Minister of Environmental
Protection and Natural Resources Giorgi Khachidze, Minister of Culture and
Sport Nika Rurua.
The office of Vice Prime Minister will be held by Baramidze. The ministers will
change at this office every six months.
Prime Minister presented government's United Georgia without poverty program. "Now the country faces many calls, which resulted from the Russian aggression and global financial crisis, and I want to note that the previous government could preserve stability and worked clearly. But we face new calls, on which we must combine our organization and successfully carry out government's program removing consequences of war and return to that rhythm of development, which was in the country before the war. We also must provide population with work and provide refugees with all conditions," said Gilauri.
He said that his key priority is to create new jobs for population. "This is a difficult task. But we will try to resolve it and create new workplaces," he said, noting that today there is 14 percent unemployment in Georgia.
"We will create a corruption free and effective system of State governance, and each tetri will be saved," said Gilauri.
At the same time, Gilauri noted that the foreign policy priorities will not
change - this is the entrance to NATO and European Union.
Prime Minister answered questions of MPs.
Gilauri who worked as the finance minister in the last one and a half year and
has been Vice Premier in the last half a year, was resented by the President of
Georgia to the post of Prime Minister on Jan. 30 after the Head of Government,
Grigol Mgaloblishvili resigned due to his health.
