Iranian president to visit Libya

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit Libya on July 1, the Iranian Mehr news agency reported.

Ahmadinejad will pay a two-day visit to Libya to participate in the meeting of the Africa Union (AU) where he is expected to deliver speech. The delegation of the Iranian senior official will accompany the president during the visit.

The AU was founded in 1999. Over five countries of the African continent are members of the Union. The 12h summit of the AU took place in Addis Ababa on Feb. 1 in 2009. Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi was elected the chairman of the Africa Union for one year.
