Georgian court to examine case on 'Buket' ship today

The Gagra City Court (operating in Poti, belonging to Abkhazia Autonomous Republic) will consider the case of the captain and crew of the Turkish 'Buket' ship, among whom there are four Azerbaijanis on Aug. 31.

Judge Gela Kiriya decided to postpone the case was postponed last Thursday in connection with the application of the defense.

Lawyers for the defendants asked to postpone the case in connection with the possibility of registering a procedural agreement between prosecutors and defendants. The parties can conclude a procedural agreement, and after paying a fine, they will be released, the lawyers said.

The judge set a deadline for registering a procedural agreement by Aug. 31 and scheduled the hearings for this day.

Officers of the Georgian Border Guard Police detained the 'Bouquet' ship sailing to Abkhazia from Turkey. The crew of the ship consists of 17 persons, of whom 13 were Turkish citizens, and 4 - Azerbaijanis.

The captain of the tanker is accused of multiple violations of the Georgian state border and the violation of the rules of navigation in the occupied territory.  The Georgian Interior Ministry reported the ship transported the smuggled 2,000 tons of gasoline and 700 tons of diesel fuel.
