Georgia, EU cooperate over radioactive waste management

Georgia is working with the EU to create an effective radioactive waste management system.
A working meeting was held in the Georgian Environment and Natural Resources Ministry to ensure the safety of local radiation vaults. Experts from France, Italy, Belgium and Lithuania are working with Georgian specialists to draw up new modernization plans, the ministry reported.
Georgia has already received advanced dosimetric devices within a joint EU project. European experts are also helping to develop new legislation to ensure radioactive waste security.
