CEC chairman: 87 percent of MP candidates is man

Today, 608 people have been registered as candidates in parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said at a meeting on Tuesday.

Today, 608 people have been registered as candidates in parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said at a meeting on Tuesday.
"A total of 1,115 people, of whom 87 percent is man, have completed and submitted signature lists to the district election commissions," said Panahov.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.

The CEC meeting on Tuesday covered the appeals to the CEC in connection with the parliamentary elections, as well as changes were made to the composition of several district election commissions. According to Panahov, so far the CEC has received 175 appeals.
