CEC decide to provide free airtime time to each candidate

In addition to opportunities provided by the law for parliamentary elections, the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) has decided to provide candidates free air time and place for publication in periodicals, the CEC reported on Friday.

In addition to opportunities provided by the law for parliamentary elections, the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) has decided to provide candidates free air time and place for publication in periodicals, the CEC reported on Friday.

The report said that the CEC considers it appropriate to provide all registered candidates free air time on television and place for publication in newspapers.

Given the campaign period, for those nominees who are registered in constituencies of Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic, free airtime will be provided on the channel NaxTV, and candidates for the remaining 118 constituencies - on public television. Jointly a roundtable will be organized on television for candidates from each district. To participate in the roundtable each candidate will be allocated four minutes to speak.  

"Şərq Qapısı" newspaper has been selected for placing campaign materials in the newspapers in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and the candidates from the remaining constituencies - Azerbaijan newspaper.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
