The steps recently taken against Azerbaijan, in particular, the resolutions of the European Parliament and Bundestag do not serve to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Germany, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said.

He made the remarks during the meeting with Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Andreas Peschke.

Khalafov added that Germany needs to adjust its position on several issues in order to increase the effectiveness of the political dialogue between the two countries, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

Bundestag adopted an anti-Azerbaijani resolution in June. The country expressed its protest regarding the resolution to the German ambassador. Adoption of such a document was assessed by Azerbaijan as a proof of double standards.

Khalafov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of relations with Germany, adding that the next round of political consultations will allow to strengthen the bilateral relations and political dialogue.

Further, the deputy foreign minister urged Germany as one of the leading European countries to pursue more a active policy on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Khalafov called on German companies for active participation in the economic projects in Azerbaijan.

Andreas Peschke for his part said that Azerbaijan is the most important partner of Germany in the region and the country's position on Azerbaijan's territorial integrity remains unchanged.

The diplomat also expressed interest of his country in close cooperation with Azerbaijan in all spheres, including economy.

German businessmen are interested in increasing the investments in Azerbaijan, said Peschke.
