Preparing an official visit of President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Azerbaijan is on the agenda of Azerbaijan-Egypt relations for the near future, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Egypt Tural Rzayev told Trend.
In autumn 2017, diplomatic agencies of the two countries plan to intensify work on preparation of the Egyptian president’s visit to Baku, which may take place by the year-end, the envoy said.
The diplomat noted that this visit will surely give great impetus to the development of Azerbaijan-Egypt cooperation in all spheres.
In total, the volume of trade turnover between the two countries amounted to about $5 billion in the past 5-6 years, said Rzayev.
Currently, the main spheres the two states cooperate in are energy, tourism, agriculture, medicine and pharmaceutics.
Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with Egypt amounted to $3.5 million in January-May 2017, which is 40 percent more than in the same period of 2016, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
