Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan will shortly join one of two blocs, formed in the territory of CIS, Azer Mursalimov, a Russian expert, head of the foreign policy department of the Russian daily Kommersant.

According to the expert, part of countries, entering the CIS, are striving for establishment of a more solid nuclear within the organization. The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the Organization of Collective Security Treaty (CST) can be included in the list. “The nuclear has been shaped. These are the Central Asian countries, except Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, while they are also approaching,” Mursaliyev underlined.

On the other hand, the orange nuclear’ are the countries like Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova.

According to Mursaliyev, obviously the first bloc is aspiring for closer partnership with China, as almost all members of the organization Shanghai Organization of Cooperation (SOC). While the second group is eager to integrate to Europe, which envisages further entrance to the European Union and NATO.

“The political processes ongoing in the territory of CIS actually imply formalization of the existing realities,” Mursaliyev noted. However, he ruled out opportunities for Azerbaijan’s entrance to the CST and further to the SOC, for Baku’s current policy is defined through Armenian’s foreign policy, and vise versa.

“As Armenia is a member of the CST, Azerbaijan cannot enter the organization. So, there is one way for Azerbaijan вЂ" to move to the West,” the Russian expert underscored.
