The PACE co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan, Andres Herkel and Andreas Gross will arrive in Baku as observers, Estonian MP Andres Herkel told Trend exclusively.

The visit will take place till 1 June 2006. It is not part of the monitoring mission over the 13 May 2006 by-elections to the Milli Majlis [Parliament], Herkel stressed. The decision on the visit of the co-rapporteurs was made at the meeting of the PACE Monitoring Committee in Paris on 8 May.

Besides, Herkel did not exclude that their visit may be paid during the re-run elections and the co-rapporteurs would also participate in the direct observation over the elections. Gross and I will arrive in Baku separately to conduct monitoring. Determination of the exact date of the visit is technical issue, PACE co-chair noted.
